CBP Seizes Loaded Handgun at the North Dakota Border Entry

Antler, N.D. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized a loaded handgun at the Antler, N. D. port of entry last week.
On December 19, at approximately 2 p.m., CBP officers encountered a 34-year-old-man identified as a United States citizen and resident of Katy, Texas. During questioning, CBP officers asked the subject to declare firearms, to which a negative declaration was secured. During the inspection of the subject’s vehicle, officers discovered a loaded handgun in a bag located behind the passenger seat of the vehicle.
CBP officers questioned the subject on whether or not he had a concealed weapons permit, to which he did not. Officers seized the handgun and turned the weapon and subject over to the North Dakota State Patrol for further prosecution.
“Our officers are committed to the CBP mission of securing the nation’s borders,” said Patrick O’Hara, port director, Antler. “The hard work and dedication of the officers at the port of Antler resulted in the seizure of this undeclared concealed loaded handgun.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws
