Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Border Patrol Station seized more than 360 pounds of marijuana with estimated value of nearly $300,000.

Around 4 a.m. Thursday, agents working on a ranch south of Eagle Pass observed several people in a small row boat transport large bundles across the Rio Grande River. When the occupants of the boat made landfall in the United States they unloaded the cargo and hid in heavy brush. When agents approached, the subjects abandoned the packages and ran back to the river. Five large bundles containing 30 individually-wrapped packages of marijuana were recovered.

The contraband, which had a total weight of 369 pounds, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
