Agents in Texas Find Dope Stashed Under Travel Trailer

Sullivan City, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station made a narcotics bust at a travel trailer Thursday.
Agents discover 1,000 lbs of marijuana stashed beneath a travel trailer.
At about 11:30 a.m. agents patrolling near Sullivan City passed by a travel trailer parked on a lot. As the agents approached the trailer in their marked service vehicle, a man ran from the trailer, jumped over a fence and disappeared into nearby brush. While searching for the man, the agents discovered numerous bundles of marijuana stashed beneath the trailer. The combined weight of the bundles was almost a 1,000 pounds.
The drugs, which were valued at close to $800,000, were taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
On October 14, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station seized 982 pounds of marijuana near Sullivan City from beneath a travel trailer parked on a lot.
“This demonstrates how indiscrete criminals have become when smuggling and stashing their loads,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Armando Mercado Jr. “U.S. Border Patrol agents continue with their vigilance and their serious commitment to stop smugglers and their illicit activities, whether their unlawful doings are blatant or not, such as this bare-faced case.”
To report suspicious activity, call the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector’s toll-free telephone number at (800) 863-9382.
