internet Web Design: Knoiwing the Components

Wouldn't you want to catch your visitor's eye with a flashy layout? Or perhaps draw in more traffic because of conveniently placed navigation and content? Whatever purpose you may have for your website, always keep in mind the importance of its layout design. It actually makes or breaks your website because it's the first thing people see! There are important elements to understand in a website's design.

Know Your Site's Structure

In web design, you may see some websites with header, body, and footer that contain the important elements of a web page. For navigation, some websites have one-column navigation and others have two-columns. In your website, always decide what structure you are going to have.

If you have a blog or a single-topic based website, then you could make do with no side-navigation columns. You will provide more space for your content and this can really catch the viewer's attention. Make sure to include concise links on the header and footer.
If you have a multi-functional site, like a school website, for example, then one-column navigation can help you categorize things. If you have a complicated website, then the two-column structure will always help your organize things. Depending on your website's purpose, its structure will vary.

Use Appropriate Color Combinations

A keen eye can tell you that red, green, and yellow look hideous together. That may be so with the default shades they come in. Blend colors around so you can get great combinations that fit the mood of your website. This catches your visitor's eye because they get a taste of your website's theme and mood. Be careful, you might place clashing colors. These can easily let you lose visitors that way.
Play around with color combinations! You might obtain a mix that you might enjoy. Consult color charts to see which colors fit together.

Always Keep Adequate White Space

Unlike printed text, your website needs to be friendly on the eyes. Space out your navigation and content in such a way that it becomes easy to read. White space does not necessarily denote the color white. It simply means any empty space found on website.

Keep in mind that too much space may make your site bland while too little can make it disorganized. Even though you've got orderly navigations and properly formatted content, if you have them tightly packed together, people are discouraged to even take a second look at your website.

Always keep some amount of space to allow your viewers to rest their eyes after browsing your website. White space is an important website layout design element you must consider.

Your website's layout design affects your site to the point that it can be major factor for traffic. Make sure that your layout's design must be structured, color-balanced, and white space-balanced. Once you have these three aspects in check, your layout will become a masterpiece to the viewers.
