Councillor Adam Vaughan (Ward 20 Trinity-Spadina) along with Toronto Community Housing (TCH) and representatives of Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds will join local residents to celebrate the opening of the accessible, natural playground and public park with a community planting.

Date: Monday, August 16

Times:
6 p.m. - Community planting
7:30 p.m. - Barbecue
8 p.m. - Official opening

Location: Hydro Block, 6 Henry St.

The playground was designed by Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds through consultations with the community and TCH, and was made possible through matching contributions from THC and the City of Toronto totalling $60,000.

With rolling green hills, soaring trees, bright flowers, slides, seating and water features, the new spaces will reconnect children and adults alike to the natural world and provide a setting for them to connect with one another.

About Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds:
Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds engages communities to re-imagine and rebuild their green space through better designs, partnerships, and programs that connect their children and adults to nature. The parks and playgrounds we create reflect the natural heritage of the site and the needs of the community through a collaborative and inclusive design process, a skilled team of installers and well orchestrated community builds. Rolling hills, curling pathways, and giant logs and boulders and trees define spaces filled with art, music, and nature. These are playgrounds without barriers where children and families are encouraged to explore the limits of their imagination. This is the place in our community where we form four critical bonds with nature and each other. Projects can be found in public parks and at schools and child care centres across Canada and the USA.
