CBP Officers at Pharr International Bridge Seize 22 Pounds of Cocaine - Man Arrested






Pharr, TX—U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge seized approximately 22.18 pounds of cocaine yesterday. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $709,700.

On Oct. 12, CBP officers working at the Pharr International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2006 Volkswagen Jetta and its male occupant, a 20-year-old Mexican national from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A CBP officer referred the vehicle and driver to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers seized eight packages of alleged cocaine that were found hidden within the vehicle’s rocker panels. CBP officers seized the vehicle as well.
The male traveler was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigation (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.
Efrain Solis Jr., CBP port director Hidalgo/Pharr, said, “I commend our frontline officers for their excellent work in interdicting hard narcotics. Their commitment to keep drugs from entering our country is demonstrated every time an interception like this is made.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
